Chapter Scholarship Opportunities

AFP-GPC offers scholarships throughout the year to those who need financial assistance to attend certain AFP programs, as well as Diversity & Outreach events and membership scholarships. Event scholarships are a great way to leverage your organization’s limited resources and are generally available with a registration fee greater than $100. You do not need to be a member to qualify for an educational scholarship, although members may receive a higher scholarship benefit. For questions or to receive any one of our scholarship application form, e-mail the Chapter office at chapter@afpgpc.org.

Villanova Principles of Fundraising
 formerly Fundamentals of Fundraising

Effective fundraising requires sophisticated methods of identifying, cultivating and soliciting potential donors.  This course provides an overview of the techniques needed to succeed.  We have selected a faculty of leading development professionals to share their knowledge and extensive experience.  Through this course, you will develop an inventory of skill for meeting the challenges of the fundraising profession.

Chamberlain Scholarship

If you are considering attending the AFP International Conference and you have never attended an AFP International Conference you could be eligible to receive The Chamberlain Scholarship.  This scholarship is given in memory of Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE in recognition of his long and distinguished career as a professional fundraiser and his volunteer service to AFP, which spanned nearly 40 years.

The criteria to be selected as a Chamberlain Scholar are established by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy and include the following:
  • Candidate is employed as a fundraising professional or, if candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.
  • Candidate has never attended an AFP (or NSFRE) International Conference on Fundraising as a registered participant (unless as a member of the Conference Host Committee).
  • Candidate agrees to complete and return an Evaluation Form about his or her experience to the Scholarship Committee.
  • Only one individual from any local organization or institution may be selected.
  • The scholarship covers the registration fee for the conference.  The scholarship awardee must pay a $10 processing fee and all travel/accomodations.

The deadline to submit an application is October 30, 2012 for the 2013 conference.  Click HERE for an application.

Diversity & Outreach Committee Scholarship

The Diversity and Outreach Scholarship Program was developed to promote diversity in the fundraising profession and in the membership of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals--both in the individuals who participate and in the organizations that are involved.  All Diversity & Outreach Membership Scholarships are partial in the amount of $100. If awarded, you will be required to complete a membership application and submit your dues of $100.  All dues are payable on an anniversary year.

If you would like to be considered for an AFP-GPC Membership Scholarship, please email your request to chapter@afpgpc.org
